We have two little ones, and love hosting meals with our friends and family who also have littles – so I wanted to create a fun and special (kid-friendly) table for the littles to enjoy!
We hosted some of our best friends for brunch this weekend, and I tend to always go a little more on the formal side for tablescapes. But when it’s brunch, and the littles are involved, I thought it could be fun to try something a little more fun, whimsical and casual!
We have this antique table (it was my grandmas!) in the girls playroom usually – but I brought it into the dinette so we could all eat together.
plates | reindeer napkin rings | napkins | garland
I like having some special/themed plates for Christmas time for the kids, and I grabbed these ones on sale from Pottery Barn Kids. Everything else I had around the house or grabbed from Target!
To make a table special, you really don’t need to break the bank. I had this black chalkboard table runner in the basement (from Michaels years ago) so I used it as one large placecard! I picked up from greens from our local Hyvee and added some candles that I already had.
Another easy and fun way to bring in some pops of red is adding water, cranberries and greens to a mason jar with a floating candle. So simple, but a fun and easy accent! For a more formal look, you could do this with different sized glass vases down your table.
The older girls loved having a special place to sit and it was great to not have two wiggly bodies at the “adults” table, too!
