As you may know, I have a full time job in corporate marketing. It’s a huge part of who I am. I love my job! I have worked in health care marketing my whole career and I am so passionate about it. I like to say jokingly it’s a “family business” as my dad is a doctor (I spent many nights sleeping in a hospital bed as a young child when he was called in to work late at night) and my mom works in her dream job at one of the most highly respected hospital systems in the world. It’s in my blood!
All that is to say – being a working mom is a huge part of my life! And my goal here is to encourage and inspire you through home decor, style and motherhood – so an easy way to do that is share some new trends and basics I have found and love, that can work great in the workplace, running errands with the kids and all the way to date night.
SO to start this off. Here are my three favorite items for work that can transition into spring – and a few different ways to wear them. My goal for this is that these can be dressed up or down! So if you work in a “business casual” environment or a “business professional” setting – these will work for you AND you’ll feel cute and trendy.
Say goodbye to those baggy black pants you’ve been wearing for 5 years and hello to some cute (versatile, classy, professional, affordable) trends to transition from winter to spring.
OUTFIT ONE: LITTLE BLACK DRESS
This dress makes me so happy! I love the a-line fit, that it has the little tie front to hide where the babies have been, the sweet key-hole detail and the sporty sleeve. It would be perfect for anything – a wedding, work, brunch with girlfriends, date night… and so much more. It is a great material and a new staple in my closet.
This is my current work bag and it’s on sale for almost half off what I bought it for! I love the color because it can work with navy, black, or brown and the gold embellishments. It has a full-zip closure which is great to prevent from things falling out when you’re on the go.
OUTFIT TWO: VERSATILE NEUTRAL TOP
This top is so good! It looks great on the shoulder or off and can so easily be dressed up or down. I love that it can look professional for the work place and then you can pop it off the should for date night. I grabbed a size small in this, it is definitely true to size. It would also look great with a denim skirt or shorts in the summer – and I love a good loose sleeve like this one for family photos if you are getting those done this spring.
If you follow me on instagram you know my love for my black wedge sneakers. So I’ve been on the hunt for a spring options and I wanted a tan/mushroom color that would work through spring to fall and these are perfect. They are true to size.
If you’re on the hunt for a new denim jacket this one from Old Navy is a steal. I love that it’s a little distressed and lighter in color – plus it’s on sale right now. One thing to note – it is not at all stretchy. So if you want something with more room I’d size up (I have a size small and it fits great but probably could have done a medium for a little more room).
I am embarrassed to admit it – but I just now got rid of all my old black work pants from college! It was definitely time. I love that these are a little above the ankle and have a nice line.
Lastly, the accessories – if you don’t have a leopard heel these ones are a great price point and should be considered a neutral. You have probably also noticed the trend for metal floral earrings this spring, and I have already gotten so much use out of these large gold ones from Target.
OUTFIT THREE: A FEMININE DRESS WITH POCKETS
Something about this little number just makes me feel like Elle Woods, ha! I love the texture of this dress and that it looks great for the winter months into summer. This would look great with a blazer or denim jacket, too!
These flats are going to be so great this spring – these are really soft and high quality but on sale and I love the feminine detail of the bow. These over the knee boots you may have heard me talking about before – I bought a pair for $150+ from Nordstrom and returned them as soon as I found these for $34 at Target. Such a steal for a trend that may not be around for too much longer.
Alright! What did you think?! That give you some fresh ideas of ways to style things you already own or new items you may want to snag? Hope so. So grateful you are here!
